I am trying to decide what to do with outlook when you snooze the main time of an alert.

Normally, when you snooze an outlook appointment, the appointment time stays the same, its just the alert beep is delayed a few minutes.

Since the home screen on Smartphones can only show one upcoming alert at a time, I am thinking that it would be better to delete the outlook shadow appointment if you snooze an alert. This way, the next upcoming appointment can be displayed on the homescreen.

But, what do you think? Do you want alerts to keep the outlook appointment, and adjust it's due time to the new snoozed time, or should I delete the outlook entry once it's time is in the past?

I vote to keep the outlook entry & change it.  I have the scrolling appts plugin, so if I need to see the next one I can scroll to it, but I'd rather see my alerts upcoming if I snooze 'em!

If anyone out there does not have the scrolling appts plugin, I strongly recommend it!

Well, you can find info about it at modaco, but you can buy it from handango.  Here's the page ...

I'm with Dr.Blow - not for the same reason, but simply because if I'm not constantly reminded about something, I forget about it - one of the many benefits of hitting 40, I guess!!!

Keeping the Outlook entry and changing will ensure that I am nagged about something until I've done it

My view is that you will still be reminded about the alert because it will go off again after the snooze amount.

But, because the homescreen can only display one appointment at a time (without spending some money for a third-party plug-in), keeping that snooze appointment in outlook will "hog" the display so other appointments won't get displayed until you dismiss the original alert.

Does this make a little more sense?

I say delete and forget.  If I snooze it's only for a couple minutes, not a day or two.  So I don't need a new entry in my calendar.

That was reported at modaco, but I'm not too sure myself.  I find that with my C500 on a fresh reboot I get about 40% free RAM.  After a day or so it settles around 25%.  It does occassionally get below 20% which stops some apps responding, so it needs a reboot.  I don't really find it an issue coz I usually reboot my phone myself before I have to due to the memory leak, if you see what I mean!  The author of the plugin has promised an updated version which is rumoured to include multiple appts diaplyed onscreen (), and a fix for the memory leak.

Maybe neither one nor the other ...

I think deleted Outlook entries can be a problem. I recently lost a note that I had added to the event in Outlook.

My suggestion is to delete the Outlook event at a later time, maybe a day later (configurable systemwide and maybe also per event).

Rainer
